Welcome to the exciting world of Dinosaurs!  Throughout the next couple of days we will be exploring where dinosaurs came from, what body parts make up a dinosaur, and what is left of the dinosaur today!  Are you ready?  Lets Begin!

 

 

 

 

 

Dinosaur Egg Activity:

       There is a NEST of dinosaur eggs somewhere on our Playground!    Lets go out and search for        it!

 

       Once we find the nest and the eggs, we are going to discuss that dinosaurs came from eggs.

             What other kinds of animals are born from eggs?

 

Velociraptor Skull Activity:

       We are going to study what is called a Fossil.

       Pass around this replica of a dinosaur skull.

 

       How do we know today that dinosaurs existed millions of years ago?

       What evidence did they leave behind?

 

Dinosaur Worksheets:

       Now we are going to discuss the different parts of a Dinosaur.

       Complete the worksheet by filling in the blanks using the given word bank.

 

       Try to get your dinosaur through the maze (use given hyperlink) the first one done gets a prize!

 

Computer Lab Activities:

       Go to the Discovery Channel Website (use given hyperlink) and watch the various dinosaur        video clips. 

Group Discussions:

             What is happening in the clips?

             Are the Dinosaurs getting along?

             Why do you suppose they fight over food?

 

       Use the Smithsonian Institute Dinosaur Museum CD-ROM to explore the different fossils on        display.  Take guided tours through the interactive program.

Group Discussions:

             What kind of dinosaur bones did you see?

             How old are the fossils?

Go to the build a dinosaur website (use the link provided) and make your own make-believe dinosaur!

Movie Activities:

       We are going to watch “The Land Before Time” video/dvd

     How was Littlefoot born?

     What happened to Littlefoot’s Mother?

     What was the significance of the star leaf?

     Was food an issue for Littlefoot and his friends?

     Would you like to have a dinosaur as a pet?
